I built Elisabeth’s initial WordPress site in 2017. As her needs grew, it was time for a theme change. She wanted to move from a blog-focused home page to a landing page/website focused home page. Her theme had actually been discontinued and it wasn’t up-to-date with new features, so I moved her site to the Genesis platform and gave it a new, responsive theme.
I also organized her site categories, built a blog archive page, created a media gallery for her podcasts, and added a contact page with an email form.

Landing Page vs. Blog Layout
Whether you want your home page to showcase your most recent posts or not is a personal decision. A ‘website’ or landing page design is becoming increasingly popular. This feature also removes the sidebar from the home page for a more streamlined view.
In Elisabeth’s new site, readers can still see her most recent posts across the top (or featured posts of her choice), but the rest of the home page is dedicated to featuring her speaking opportunities, bio, and published work. Users can still click through to read her posts in her category archive or by recent posts.

Category Archive
I built a custom blog archive page that highlights Elisabeth’s four most popular categories on top with a few most recent blog post snippets below.

When users click through to any of the categories squares above, they view a grid of corresponding blog posts.
