I built Nancy’s original WordPress website and branding in 2020, but a lot has changed with technology since then so it was time for an upgrade! Her new custom WordPress store and theme change kept her site familiar to readers, but with added “under the hood” benefits.
Services Used:
- WordPress Store
- Extra Store Customization
- Store Sidebar Filters
- Store WIsh List
- WordPress Theme Change
- Annual Maintenance Plan
I recently made the decision to add a WooCommerce store to my blog website. I knew this task was well beyond my capabilities. I’ve worked with Christi for several years as she redesigned and updated my website in 2018 and worked as my “VA Bestie” monthly to keep my site updated and running. I knew she would be my go-to tech guru for this overwhelming task.
Christi made this process painless. She is knowledgeable and patient. While she did the majority of the “techy” stuff (design, plug-ins, coding etc.), there were some tasks that I had to complete as the website owner. This scared me to death, as I am not tech savvy at all. Christi held my hand through the process every step of the way. She created tutorial videos for me to watch which broke tasks down step-by step. Christi quickly responded to my emails when I had questions. She made sure everything was just right.
I could not have added a store to my website without the hard work from Christi. She has been my saving grace with all website things. I am thrilled too, that she offers a website maintenance service as well. I signed right up for this service and love that Christi checks on my site weekly for updates and issues to be sure my site runs smoothly, leaving me the time to do the things I love.
I highly recommend Christi! Whether you need a brand new website, branding, a WooCommerce site added to an existing site or VA support, she will take great care of you!

WordPress Theme Change
First, Nancy was ready for a WordPress theme change. Her older theme was still running on Genesis before full site editing became available, so it was time to upgrade. She kept all of her existing branding and wanted the new theme to still feel very familiar, so we kept a similar layout.
Here is a comparison of the before and after.

Custom WordPress Store
With more and more teachers deciding to host their own website stores in addition to TPT, I also created a custom WordPress store. First, here’s a look at the “starter” store option, which displays shoppable categories.

Then, I upgraded her store with a custom layout. Her new store homepage highlights a featured resource and sidebar filters to help shoppers narrow down their options.

Once shoppers navigate into a single category, the featured product goes away and displays a relevant product grid.

Each single product page highlights important information and a link to download a PDF preview. It will also display related products when she completes her uploads.

Finally, a little “add to wishlist” button helps shoppers start creating purchase lists.

Wishlists are stored on the site for easy reference.
