Denny owns an after school tutoring center that has been in business for over 25 years. The center has a long history of success and beautiful testimonials to share, but the website was outdated and in need of maintenance too. We worked together on her new after school tutoring center website design, which now highlights everything she has to offer.

Website Before
Here’s a look at the previous School Connection website. In addition to changes on the front of the website, I also did quite a bit of cleanup work behind the scenes. This helps the overall website health and load time.
School Connection Brand Update
Denny wanted to keep the same owl from her previous branding, but most likely remove it from the “S” to make the branding easier to read. I presented a variety of options in the initial drat to help narrow down our focus.
She liked the fonts and layout of 2, but wanted to see it in the colors of 1. She also wanted to explore putting the header in a doodle or outline.
Then we explored adding more doodles and accents. I tend to take a “less is more” approach to branding, but sometimes you have to SEE it to decide for yourself. We also added a tagline to some of the headers.
Then Denny decided to keep it simple and sent a dashed frame inspiration.
Finally, we locked in the title and then worked on tagline versions.
Her new brand board reflects an updated approach that makes it easy to carry over the new styles to other promotional materials.

Denny’s new branding concept was carried over to her after school tutoring center website design. She had a lot of information to convey, so it was important for the website to be super easy to navigate.
The mission
Then we have informational pages that introduce staff members and help potential families learn more about the center.
Next, the Programs page provides a quick at-a-glance overview of each unique program.
Each program then has its own page with more details.
A blog is not only a helpful resource for parents, but also a great way to boost position in search results thanks to SEO. Denny had a few articles on her old site that we refreshed.
She also purchased an ongoing support package for help adding new posts throughout the year.
Finally, the contact page makes it easy to collect information and get in touch.
